Seven years ago, to the date, I launched this blog. Reading that first post, it’s clear that my goal was to focus on the American Dream, how it now feels so unattainable, and how we can get back to a place where we feel like it’s a reality again.
And throughout those seven years I infrequently peppered the blog with posts that mostly chronicled my journey building an Internet company. But those insights were too sporadic to provide ongoing value. I’m rebooting this blog with my initial vision: a broad theme focused on the American Dream. I have a story to tell, a journey with high highs, and extremely low lows.
Realizing the American Dream
Since that first post here, I’ve fought hard to build a humble company. I’m now to the point where I’m earning a nice salary and supporting a family. Although I had a head start on most people, I did my absolute best to sabotage and squander my lead.
Fortunately, I’ve been able to dig myself out of the hole I put myself in, and am now feeling that I’m finally getting closer to achieving the American Dream.
I’ll be focusing on detailing my failures and successes. I’ll cover personal finance as well as business related finance. I hit rock bottom, declaring bankruptcy, in 2006. Even still, I made some big mistakes after that. But I finally got my act together and have grown an online business to more than $800,000 in annual revenue as of 2016.
I hope these lessons, learnings, and stories benefit and inspire others. I hope those on the path to the American Dream can learn from my errors and achieve their goals faster, without repeating my mistakes. And I hope those that feel hopeless, like they’re in an impossible financial situation, can see that there’s a path that leads to brighter days.
You don’t need to be an American to relate to this blog. And none of us need to be drowning.
